Godly Play and Chapel

Godly play and chapel

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” Matthew 19:14

This is the thread that runs through every Bible story taught to HPPDS students.

Godly Play lessons are taught in the classrooms by Mrs. Bell, and are experienced as a visual, oral and kinesthetic approach to religious education for children to experience God while learning. Godly Play was founded by Jerome W. Berryman and is based on the recognition that children have an innate sense of the presence of God and by using an imaginative method for presenting scripture stories to children, they have a more authentic experience.

Students in PreK3-Kindergarten also worship corporately twice weekly in the beautiful Wynne Chapel. Monday’s lesson is taught by an HPPC Minister and on Thursdays the lesson is taught by a classroom teacher and her students. We sing songs of praise, learn Bible verses by memory and are immersed in the stories of God’s faithfulness and Jesus’ love for each one of us!
